It is important to note that each region of the United States has its distinct climatic features. From the scorching heat to the sub-zero temperatures. So when James Hardie® was designing its siding and trim, the company considered climate variations. They developed the HardieZone® System that helps your window replacement contractors. Austin Pro Siding, Windows & Roofing provides a guide on how the HardieZone System operates and how it helps your home improvement projects.

What Is the HardieZone System?

The HardieZone System is based on eight key environmental factors that have an impact on the long-term durability of siding. James Hardie has developed a unique HardieZone product range for use in climate zones 1–5 and climate zones 6–10, respectively. It divides the country into ten “zones” and eight climatic factors, with each zone representing a climate factor.

Each product line is designed to work best in a specific climatic zone and may not perform as well in other climate zones. Whenever you have problems with your siding or windows, your window installers use the HardieZone system to properly assist them in addressing your concern in a way that is appropriate for the climate in your area.

HZ5®

A siding product line for zones 1-5, HZ5 is specifically developed for colder areas prone to snow, ice dams, and extreme temperature. Your contractor suggests HZ5 siding products for moisture resistance and paint adherence, which are ideal for dealing with extreme weather. Once the snow melts, HZ5 items are equipped with a drip edge, which helps to regulate the flow of water.

HZ10®

The HZ10 HardieZone series, on the other hand, is a product designed for locations in the path of severe weather, like hurricanes. While HZ5 siding is intended to be cosmetically durable, HZ10 siding is engineered to be structurally durable. Unlike traditional siding, they do not crack, split, or deteriorate over time. In addition to storms, they are built to endure humid coastal air, as well as muggy conditions.
